Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the United States has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
